Indexing government scandals one at a time
President Akufo-Addo has asked the Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo to take his accumulated leave, a statement from the presidency has said.
Director of Communications at the Jubilee House in the statement said Mr Domelevo is expected to begin the leave on Wednesday July 1, 2020. Domelevo is to handover all matters relating to his office to Mr Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, the Deputy Auditor-General to act as Auditor-General until his return from his annual leave.
Anti-corruption campaigner, Vitus Azeem says the government’s directive to the Auditor-General to proceed on his accumulated annual leave is a smack on the independence of Auditor-General’s Office. According to him, such a directive would have best come from the Public Service Commission.
