Indexing government scandals one at a time
The cedi has hit one of its highest falls so far reaching of ¢4.85 to one United States dollar.
Cumulatively, the Cedi depreciated 5.3 percent in the first six months, compared to 3.3 percent in the first half of last year, according to Reuters data.
The drop is affecting importers who have to issue more cedis for the dollar and other major trading currencies. Owners of some forex bureaux are demanding that the Akufo-Addo government deals with the situation as it is affecting their business.
