Indexing government scandals one at a time
The Minority in Parliament is questioning the basis for which the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta gave approval for the Agricultural Development Bank to give a loan of 10,459,500 to a private firm, the MacDan Shipping Company Limited to enable it execute a supply contract awarded it by the Ghana Cocoa Board.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu said the action of the Finance Minister is a breach of the procurement processes and rules. He said the contract given to McDan Shipping Company Limited, did not pass through the Central Tender Review committee.
The MPs say the contract was awarded on June 9, 2017, but the Review committee which is to do the approval was only constituted on August 1, 2017. The Minority caucus said there is also no board for the PPA to approve the contract and are therefore asking "who in the PPA is approving those contracts?".
