Indexing government scandals one at a time
NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central Honourable Kennedy Agyapong has gone all out in defense of his wife’s 100,260,000 million cedis sole-sourced contract from the Energy Ministry, saying that the said contract was rather on restrictive tendering.
There has been suspicions that the government did not follow due processes in awarding the contract to the company which is believed to be owned by the wife of known NPP financier and MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.
The company was allegedly formed months before the contract was approved, supporting allegations that the ministry did not fairly select a contractor.
The contract awarded to Mrs Stella Wilson Agyapong’s Imperial World Ventures is worth GH¢100, 260, 000 through restrictive tendering by the Ministry of Energy to supply 150W LED streetlights. Restrictive tendering of a contract is subject to approval by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) for the purchase of urgently needed products.
