Personal driver to GNPC CEO amasses wealth

The identity of a man in a video flaunting dollars while filming his Trassacco home making rounds on social media has been confirmed as being the personal driver and bodyguard of Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) Chief Executive Officer K. K Sarpong.

People have wondered how a “common driver” will be able to afford a Trassacco home, the cars seen in the video and $100,000.

The said driver who earned approximately GH¢5, 600 basic salary minus allowances a month when he was employed around November 2019 is seen flaunting his home and cars in Trassacco estate while showing off US$100,000.

K. K Sarpong employed him from the Manhyia palace 2 years ago when he (K. K Sarpong) was supposed to choose one of the many drivers from the pool of drivers at GNPC, he declined and said he didn’t trust any of them enough. A chief driver who has worked with GNPC for more than 25 years doesn’t earn as much as K. K Sarpong pays his driver according to report.

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper had said the luxury being displayed by appointees of Akufo-Addo is insulting, citing among other things, the video made by K. K Sarpong’s driver.
